Streatham Youth and Community Trust is seeking 
Volunteer Sports Coaches
Weekly 1-hour sessions or occasional
Travel expenses only
 
 
SYCT was established almost 70 years ago to meet the needs of local young people. We now deliver services for children and young people, vulnerable adults and the wider community from three locations in Streatham and local secondary schools
 
We are seeking several sports coaches to deliver weekly or occasional sessions to girls aged 14+ in Lambeth secondary school, youth centres and parks. The project is a multi-sports initiative; therefore, we are interested in hearing from people with coaching qualifications or experience in a wide range of sports.
 
Of special interest are basketball, boxing, badminton, netball, football and dance. You must hold or be willing for us to undertake an enhanced DBS check.
 
We are looking for the following attributes:
Good communication skills
Enthusiasm
Reliability
Honesty
Good timekeeping
A genuine interest in working with young people
 
Must hold a current DBS or be willing for us to carry out enhanced DBS checks
We will pay volunteer travel expenses subject to our expenses policy

Youth Work Apprentice – 2-year fixed term contract
35 hrs per week inc. training time
£5.00 per hour rising to £5.80 per hour after 1 year
 
SYCT was established almost 70 years ago to meet the needs of local young people. We now deliver services for children and young people, vulnerable adults and the wider community from three locations in Streatham and local secondary schools
 
We are looking for a bright, confident, self-motivated and reliable young person to help deliver our well established youth and sports provision.
 
You will support the Principal Youth Worker with planning and delivering youth club activities, which are delivered three evening a week and the Community Sports Activator with planning and delivery of sports and physical activity sessions which take place mostly in secondary schools with girls aged 14+
 
We are seeking someone with a basic understanding of issues effecting young people living in London and with a basic understanding of the benefits that sport and youth work can provide. We are seeking someone with a passion for working with young people. The ideal candidate will be someone who:

  • can relate well to children and young people while maintain professional boundaries
  • can inspire and motivate others
  • has good timekeeping and organisational skills
  • has a willingness to learn
     
    It is a 35 hour a week post which includes significant evening and weekend working.
