Streatham Youth and Community Trust is seeking a

Full-time Play Worker

£25,207 pa

SYCT was established almost 70 years ago to meet the needs of local young

people. We now deliver services for children and young people, vulnerable adults and the wider community from three locations in Streatham.

It is an exciting time of growth for our charity and we are seeking a self motivated and dynamic individual to lead our play work at Streatham Vale Park. The role is very hands on from planning sessions, delivering play work, engaging with children and parents and monitoring and evaluation. We are therefore seeking someone with a passion for working with children and supporting them to reach their potential. Some of the services will be brand new and you will be involved in shaping and launching them.

Services include stay and play sessions for children aged 0—4 and parents/carers, open play sessions for 6—16 year olds and clubs for 6—12 year olds.

The work will be challenging at times, working with children from marginalised and disadvantages communities including gypsy and traveller and new             communities.

We are seeking someone with a Level 3 qualification in Play Work along with    relevant experience.  We particularly welcome applications from people with     experience in the following areas:

  • Working with gypsy or traveller communities

  • Working with marginalised or minority groups

  • Setting up new services

  • Working with parents and children

  • Working with young people

It is a 35 hour a week post including some evening and weekend working.

If you would like to be considered please contact Angie Foran in the first instance for an informal discussion and to request an application pack.
