![]() Streatham Youth and Community Trust is the recent beneficiary of a legacy from Charles Land. Mr Land, know as Bill to his friends, was a lifelong Streatham resident. Many of those years were spent residing on Ribblesdale Road. Any locals will know this is the northern extension of Conyers Road, site of our youth centre. Born in 1917, Bill lived in Streatham after moving to the UK as a small boy from Canada. His war years were spend in the 46th Reconnaissance Regiment while his working career was spent in the film industry. He worked for National Screen Services, a company which made film and movie trailers, including some James Bond films. As was typical of that more modest generation, he never talked about his war years, though he opened up more in his later years. Jenny Chambers, Goddaughter, described him as a good, kind man who was well loved. Streatham Youth and Community Trust will use this legacy to continue our work with local children and young people. We encourage our supporters to consider leaving us a legacy. For advice on will writing, please contact a solicitor.
