Streatham Youth and Community Trust's Half Term activities branched into a new sport with our involvement with The Tennis Games. Fifteen youth clubs took part in a mini-tennis programme organised by London Youth in a partnership with the Tennis Foundation (http://www.lta.org.uk/Tennis-Foundation/Home/ ). The programme included staff/young leader training, free tennis equipment and resource packs, weekly club sessions and access to holiday tennis workshops and festivals. SYCT have participated in a summer tennis workshop at Dulwich Sports Ground and a Lambeth/Southwark mini tennis festival at Salmon Youth Centre in October Half Term. This is in addition to three staff/young leaders completing their activator training and offering weekly sessions at the club. John Jones, Sport Development Officer at London Youth said ‘We are delighted to be working in partnership with the Tennis Foundation and 15 of our youth clubs across London to offer tennis opportunities to young people. This partnership is able to reach and engage regularly with young people who previously have not considered tennis as a sport for them and tennis is now an additional sport that our youth clubs have the capacity and confidence to deliver’. A young people led video of the programme was also produced and is available to view on the following link, Streatham Youth and Community Trust presents....The Tennis Games: http://youtu.be/AyGu65dfULc
